BRIEF
She-AgriVates started as a project to empower women farmers as peer leaders (“She-AgriVators”) who replicate climate-smart practices in their communities. The model scales organically through local networks. Combining regenerative agriculture, digital tools, and market linkages creates self-reinforcing cycles of income growth and environmental restoration.
Problem
Rural African women grow most of Africa’s food, yet they remain the most vulnerable to climate shocks and the least connected to markets and technology.
Solution
Equipping women with climate-smart skills, digital tools, and access to fair markets, to unlock triple impact: resilient food systems, thriving green economies, and stronger communities.
☆☆☆☆☆
In April 2025, WomSTEM Innovation and Entrepreneurship Agency began training 150 women (prospective trainers) on digital tools.
In June 2025, it facilitated an all women session "Innovation Meets Impact: Africa Leading AgriTech Transformation during the Global Landscapes Forum in partnership with CIFOR-ICRAF, Google Women Techmakers and AI STEM Partnerships Hub.
The global event hosted 2,300 participants from 122 countries and reached over 10 million people via social media and media channels. https://www.globallandscapesforum.org/video/innovation-meets-impact-how-africa-is-leading-agri-tech-transformation
Traction
Training of Trainers: 150 women to train 15000 African farmers and agripreneurs starting with Kenya, Ghana and South Africa. ● Facilitated digital literacy for improved market access to women owning 10,000+ acres of farmland. ● Early traction includes partnerships with CIFOR-ICRAF, Google Women Techmakers, AI STEM Partnerships Hub, Sustain Africa, Vambo Multilingual AI (South Africa), Kenya Space Agency (Kenya), and GIZ (Ghana) to expand reach and technical capacity.
Exponential impact
1. Training women innovators as Trainers.
2. Training women in agriculture and biosystems as Facilitators.
3. Training women farmers as peer leaders (“She-AgriVators”) who replicate climate-smart practices in their communities.
The model scales organically through local networks. Integrating regenerative farming, digital innovations, and market access builds a continuous cycle where rising incomes and ecosystem restoration strengthen and sustain each other.
Strategic partnerships with local governments, agritech firms, and development agencies enable rapid replication across regions and countries.
Collaborative enterprise
Strategic collaboration allows us to scale AI- powered tools to over 1 million farmers across 5+ countries, providing real-time diagnostics, digital advisory, and market access —giving us the competitive edge to transform agriculture for women, youth, and communities.
Tech-Enabled Features
1. Digital agronomy platform built to deliver expert crop diagnostics, advisory services and market access to farmers through a tool they already use daily — WhatsApp. Its core innovation lies in combining artificial intelligence (AI), computer vision, and natural language processing (NLP) to provide real-time, localized support at scale.
2. Climate Witness Chain where communities can submit verified, timestamped climate events (e.g., rainfall, drought, locust sightings).
● Validate events using decentralized verification (location, photo, citizen trust score)
● Map correlations between events and economic impacts (e.g., crop failure)
● Trigger smart contracts for micro-insurance, early warnings, or climate relief DAO decisions.
While other programs operate through large-scale, donor-driven programs, we are a lean, women-led social enterprise that blends climate-smart agriculture with digital innovation and entrepreneurship. We focus on peer-to-peer replication. Our approach integrates cutting-edge tools like multilingual AI and geospatial data to localize solutions and accelerate adoption.
